✧✧ London MCM Expo - Saturday 25th May 2013 ✧✧
As many of you whom follow my YouTube and Facebook will know, this Saturday, I attended London MCM Expo 2013 with a few of my friends...
It was my first ever comic convention, and I loved every second of it!
For those of you who don't know what MCM is, it's a comic convention run by the ExCel company in London, although, they host events all over the country. The London MCM Expo is the UK's largest comic and anime convention~
I was supposed to take pictures... But, I found myself amazed by the surreal atmosphere, and I completely forgot to take many pictures at all! *dies*
However, I do have a few pictures to share with you, along with a little recount of what happened...~
We brought advanced entry tickets, meaning that we wouldn't have to join the massive queue that was forming for people that needed to buy their tickets at the convention, and in the line next to ours, there was this guy, with the most amazing hat I've ever seen in my life. To make things better, he had the most serious facial expression I've ever seen. I adored him, and I needed a picture, but he said he was camera shy, and wanted to look away from the camera during the photograph. ^w^
A few hours after we arrived, it was time for Kelsey (KimonoTime)'s performance as 'Vaneloppe Von Schweetz' in a tribute act from the recent Disney movie, 'Wreck It Ralph'. The show was called 'Sugar Rush Speed Rave', and it lasted for roughly 20 minutes. They performed a total of 4 songs, with people dressed as pumpkins, cupcakes, etc.
Before the show, we went to meet Kelsey and wish her luck~ I've been a huge fan of hers for a very long time, since she first started posting dance covers to YouTube, so, for me, this was huge to meet her in the flesh. And she was really lovely and posed for photographs, and she looked so cute. ^w^
Also, in the background, you can just-about make out one of the dancers from an all-girl dance-trio that were covering K-Pop songs on the Fringe Stage. They were quite good, although some of the dancing was a little inappropriate for their age... *hides*
Above is a picture of the 'Sugar Rush Speed Rave' performance, before the cupcake dancers came on stage. This was a cover of the song 'Celebration', which is a really old disco track, but they covered it really well, and I was very impressed with Kelsey's voice, live. ~
After the performance, we started to head back to the sales rooms, and came across some Portal cosplayers, using stilts. They looked so cool, and they were jumping on the stilts, seeing who could jump the highest. I know for a fact that I wouldn't trust my balance enough to do that xD
My final photo of the convention itself, taken by my boyfriend, Hiroko.
Hiro is a massive Naruto fan, and when we spotted this girl cosplaying Rock-Lee, we had to go over and say 'hi' to her~! She was so cool! And she really suited the role, because she was really energetic and bubbly, and really friendly, too! She even offered to do a range of different poses for us~
After the pictures were done, we headed to the Cosplay Masquerade to go and see the cosplay competition that they were hosting. It was in a big auditorium with spotlights and stage curtains and special effects, it all looked really cool. I wanted to take photos in the event, but the lighting was dim and my iPhone camera isn't the best, so it came out a little too blurry. The cosplayers were all really good, though. Especially a little Miku cosplayer, who was only 11 years-old, and did a dance performance. The effort she'd put into learning the dance was amazing. :3
And then, once the masquerade was finished, we prepared to leave the convention. This was a sad time for all of us, since it's another year until we're all going again, and we loved the convention so much that none of us wanted to leave. However, it had been a really long day, and we were sooo tired!
After fussing over the trains forever, switching trains because Ada messed up on the train lines, and having serious issues with the underground, we reached Paddington station, 3 hours later than planned, and managed to catch the last train running to Swindon, with minutes left to spare. It was definitely a close call. Haha~
This is a picture of all the goodies I brought at the convention... Some were seriously expensive, and others weren't so bad... The SHINee cushion cost £25, and it's really uncomfortable and will require me to re-stitch it. However, it's still cheaper than buying one online, and I couldn't just leave it there... And then, I found the Kagami keychain from one of my favourite anime's, 'Lucky Star', and I had to buy it. Plus, she's detachable, meaning that if I buy a stand, she's a regular nenderoid figure~! She was a lot cheaper, costing only £4~
I also brought a big bundle of Japanese sweets, which was twice as big as shown in the picture, but I've already eaten a lot, so... Hehe~ The bundle cost £15, but it was really big, and the lady on the stall gave me a free chibi Mario badge and a glow-stick... Which was really nice ^u^
I also brought an Arpakasso Alpaca plushie, because I've wanted one forever, and it was only £11, so I brought it! They were selling the same plush on a different stall for £25!! Sooo expensive, and the 40cm plushies were over £40! I couldn't believe how expensive they were~ Haha~ But, mine was very cheap, considering how popular they've become, so I was very happy~~
Then, we moved on to a stall run by one of my favourite eBay sellers, 'KuuruPop', whom specialize in K-pop merchandise, and I brought 2 folders, since they were £3 each, or 2 for £5~~ I brought a SHINee folder, because they're my ultimate bias. And also a Teen Top folder, because I've really started to love them, also~! Besides, I have plenty of SHINee merchandise as it is... *shot*
Above is my last picture, and a conclusion to this article...
The picture is my Arpakasso, whom I've decided to name 'Momo-tan'~~!
I love her so much, she's so pink and fluffy, and her bow is really sparkly, I love her~!
I don't even mind that she's only a small Alpaca, because she's perfect~
That's the end of my report on London MCM Expo 2013~!
I'm attending next May, too!
I hope to meet lots of people there!!
Ciao~ x
